FRS are recruiting a Finance Director for a reputable and well known charitable organisation based in Welwyn Garden City. This is a strategic role, working as part of the senior leadership team, establishing and continuing to grow financial controls, developing systems and ensuring a transparent and efficient running of the finance department. You will be leading te 5 year strategic finance strategy and producing business plans for various sides of the organisation.

The role offers hybrid working, a salary of c.£75k and the business use Sage & MS Excel – experience of using these systems are essential.


Duties will include:
To produce the business plan for different financial scenarios in the context of the overall strategy
To oversee the Finance function which constantly strives to improve efficiency
Ensure budgets are agreed with Departments and approved by the respective Boards before the beginning of the financial year, and lead on reforecasting as required
Ensure Financial Management Accounts are produced as quickly as possible after month end
Conduct regular financial sensitivity analysis and also analysis of financial risks and benefits on all business initiatives
To keep up to date with Charity Commission Financial Guidance and Companies House in relation to trading activities and implement as appropriate
Oversee the development, management of all financial and other KPI reporting systems
Oversee the annual audit in close liaison with external auditors
Ensure there are efficient financial processing and recording systems

Other duties will include;
Ensuring clear objectives are set for individuals / the team and conducting regular 1:1 meetings
To be lead Executive for Board Committees eg Finance and Risk Committee
Identify the digital strategy for the organisation
The role involves the leadership of several teams. Leadership should inspire teams to demonstrate the organisation’s values
Assisting team members to develop to operate more effectively in their roles and meet the needs of the organisation
