An opportunity has arisen in Kettering, within an Accounts Department for an Accounts Assistant, reporting to the Management Accountant with a wide variety of accounting roles including AP, AR and Credit Control.

The successful candidate will join a small, friendly and focused team and have the ability to work off of their own initiative when required. They will be well organised with an excellent attention to detail.

The Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Credit Control
o Issuing customer invoices and credit notes, and dealing with queries
o Matching payments received to the AR ledgers within Priority
o Issuing of statements of accounts to customers and proactive chasing of payment, and chasing for payments of overdue invoices
• Accounts Payable
o Posting of supplier invoices into the AP ledgers in priority, including matching to purchase orders
o Supplier statement reconciliations
o Responsible for checking correct coding of purchase requisitions, and issuing to responsibility manager for authorisation, and once authorised converting to a purchase order
o Generation of the weekly payment run and sending for authorisation
o Loading of supplier payments into the bank account for second authorisation
o Matching of payments made into AR ledgers in Priority
• Updating cashflow forecast daily, with payments received and made
• Consolidation of credit card statements and receipts
• General Maintenance of AP and AR Ledgers, and contact details for customers and suppliers


• Experience required with Credit control
• Excellent Communication skills, written and verbal
• Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite
• The ability to work effectively within a team and individually
• Previous experience within an accounts role, desirable
• Previous experience with an accounting software package, desirable
• Good organisational skills and able to multitask
• Good Attention to detail
• AAT qualification advantageous, but not essential


• Contracted hours of work are 8:30am to 5pm, Monday to Thursday, and Friday an early finish at 2:30pm, with 30 minutes lunch each day
• 30 days holiday including bank holidays
