My client is a well regarded business within the construction sector, with their head office based in Leicestershire.
They are looking for an Accounts Manager to fulfil the below responsibilities.
Reporting to: Finance Director
To assist in maintaining the company accounts.
Responsibilities – What areas of the business you are responsible for:
1 Oversee the sales ledger function and ensure in particular that Applications and Self-Bill Housing accounts are up to date and chased when necessary
2 Maintaining the nominal ledger and overseeing the purchase ledger
3 Analysing small works sales and WIP for quarter end accounts, and to assess profitability
Other – Analysing the performance of Housing contracts
Objectives – What are your specific objectives in each area of responsibility:
1 Ensuring we have invoiced everything correctly and are paid promptly
2 To ensure that the nominal ledger is up to date and accurate
3 Highlight small works performance, in particular jobs that are performing well and jobs performing badly. Calculate WIP for small works to enable the completion of the management accounts within necessary deadlines
Other – To ensure expected returns in the housing department are achieved, and assess the relative profitability of customers
Tasks – What business critical task do you perform:
1 Checking payments against anticipated revenue and chasing discrepancies
2 Raising monthly and quarterly nominal journals and investigating discrepancies in the nominal ledger balances. Carry out monthly Bank Reconciliations
3 Calculating small works performance per month, highlighting both good and poor return jobs. Adjust job costings for errors found, Carry out quarterly WIP calculations
4 Using the WIP report to highlight underperforming housing jobs and investigate reasons for this
