We are looking for an experienced Credit Manager to join a vibrant and forward thinking company based in Wellingborough. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day operations of the underwriting function, recommending and designing Credit Policy and ensuring such policy is effectively applied in order to build the portfolio without undue overall risk in order to generate satisfactory profits over time.
. Design, recommend & maintain the written Credit Policy in the light of changing markets and risks.
. Ensure service levels are maintained to enable the smooth and effective handling of both flow and larger ticket transactions alongside a culture of service excellence.
. To monitor individual and team underwriting standards and promote a learning culture.
. Provide first line quality assurance reports and take action where required.
. To recommend and set and monitor individual authority level mandates.
. Monitor Geographical/Sector and End User Customer exposures ensuring management and Board awareness of the reasoning behind any limits and any risk of them being exceeded in line with current business Key Risk Indicators (KRI’s) provide day to day line management support, set objectives and aid professional development of all Underwriters.
. To monitor turnaround times to ensure agreed service levels are maintained.
. Hold and exercise a senior personal underwriting limit
. Chair the credit committee in accordance with laid down protocols.
. Utilise business systems for the maintenance of electronic underwriting and file records and assist with its development as a tool for supporting the business.
. To take a proactive lead role in building / maintaining and reporting on automated scoring systems and processes.
. Team leadership and coaching skills
. Strong finance market and underwriting experience
. Strong balance sheet analysis skills
. A balanced commercial view of risk
. Strong understanding of finance documentation terms and the risks therein
. PC Literacy and knowledge of the Microsoft suite (especially Excel)
. Ability to cope with diverse workloads under pressure.
. Excellent communication skills/telephone manner.
. Good understanding of equipment pricing issues and potential residual values.
