The Finance Operations team (“Fin Ops”) sits within International Finance responsible for delivering quality internal and external outputs to all stakeholders within a controlled framework for insurance Technical, Cash, Treasury and Expense Accounting activities.

Due to growth, complexity and drive for continuous process improvements the primary purpose of this role is to support both the FinOps Controller and FinOps Manager with the day-to-day activities ensuring these are performed and controlled in line with the clients timetable and standards.

Key Responsibilities:


To oversee all Trade Credit facing FinOps activities, ensuring they are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
To manage the relationship with key business representatives, understanding their needs, agreeing service delivery standards and ways of working, ensuring delivery against this expectation
Support the Leicester FinOps Manager and FinOps Controller in the delivery of the Leicester team’s objectives
Identify by periodical reviews, procedural shortfalls, and implement innovative and robust procedures to increase the efficiency of the team and its processes.
Oversee accurate and timely processing of claims. Liaising with Treasury to ensure best practices are adopted.
Ensure month end reconciliation deadlines are met, in respect of source, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, whilst supporting and developing the team in this area.
Maintain minimum unallocated cash, regularly reviewing outstanding aged balances and ensuring pro-active resolution within the team.
Manage cashiering of bank movement including timely allocations, reconciliations and refunds.
Support the monthly payment of commissions and work towards an improved process alongside the projects team.
Ensure the Direct Debit collections process is structured, robust and in line with BACS regulations.
Work with the TC cross functional team to deliver ongoing improvement in the process and technology roadmap
Contribute towards NPAS ARAP, where required by offering SME insight and input.
Assist with daily payment approvals.
Meet audit requirements within deadlines.


Management and development of the team through regular 121s, team meetings and periodic appraisals, ensuring a harmonious and motivated team through leading by example.
Ensure the team is properly trained and have the skills necessary to perform their tasks. Tackle training needs as required. Ensure knowledge share eradicates any key man dependencies in the team.
Lead the team by example, developing behaviours which underpin the company values, adopting a collaborative approach when interacting with others.

Stakeholder Relationship Management

Build strong relationships across Finance Operations teams, including peer group and managers, as well as relevant business stakeholders, enabling the team to deliver high quality effective support to the rest of the Business.
Provide support, guidance and direction, managing escalations with relevant stakeholders enabling the team to perform the activities within their scope.

Skills and Experience Specification:

Previous experience in a changing environment, adapting to new ways of working and implementing best practice
Accounting technical knowledge
Experience of the insurance industry
Sound knowledge of double entry accounting and journals
Sound knowledge of reconciliation process
Experience of DD processes and requirements
Experience of Credit Control
Good leadership and motivational skills
Problem solving ability
Good communication skills
