My client is a well-regarded business within the Professional Services sector.

Due to a period of significant improvement, they now have a vacancy for a Qualified Accountant to join the business as Financial Controller.

Reporting into the Head of Finance and Risk, this is a full time position, assisting with:

• To provide accurate, timely management and financial information, with substantive analysis and interpretation to support sound decision making within the business, and meeting our financial statutory requirements.
• To deliver best practice client accounting and cashiering services, strictly in accordance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and our other regulatory obligations.
• To provide management of the Ledger Accounts team (cashiering, purchase ledger and nominal ledger), including effective, positive performance management and objective setting.
• To provide sound technical advice and to assist in strategic planning, programme and project management and implementation.

The ideal candidate will be a Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with PQE, ideally gained working within the Professional or Legal Service sector.

You will have strong knowledge of Accounting Standards, Solicitors Accounts Rules, and VAT, and be able to apply the rules in a commercial environment.

You will have a genuine desire for continuous improvement, and for transforming the way a legal firm operates.

You will be a great people manager, with experience of supervising a group of specialist technical teams and individuals, to perform well against their Key Result Areas.

You will be comfortable undertaking work that is complex in nature, while working under limited direction with reasonable autonomy and accountability, exercising sound initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices, processes and procedures.
