Our client is a dynamic and high growth business of over £300 m Turnover within the UK and Ireland and forms part of a larger international group of £4bn

As a result of ongoing growth both organic and via acquisition, FRS have been enlisted to assist with the recruitment of a Financial Controller to join the business

This position will be based from the UK Head office based within the West Midlands with Hybrid working being offered and promises to be both a varied and progressive role supported by a excellent ACA Qualified CFO
Reporting into the CFO this position will have a dual approach offering great exposure across Financial / Management / Commercial Accounting whilst also becoming the company’s internal advisor for Corporation Tax and Indirect Taxes locally with support of the international group.

Management / Financial / Commercial Accounting
• Steer the setting up of Accounts Finance dept as a result of growth for a cluster of existing businesses and newly acquired business units.
• Direct financial analysis; internal and regulatory reporting; accounting operations; budgeting; forecasting that led to long-term improvements in cost savings, profitability and productivity
• Collaborate with the senior management team in improving and executing strategies & processes, accomplishing corporate goals and profitability for the company having an annual revenue
• Oversee the development & implementation of internal accounting and administrative procedures and budgets.
• Streamline foreign company accounts and worked with foreign currency transactions
• Adhere to all key regulatory and risk management responsibilities
• Steere delivery of timely and accurate monthly management accounts for internal & external purpose
• Managed the reconciliation of profit and loss and balance sheet accounts
• Complete intercompany reconciliations, AR and AP Reconciliation, validating and participating in preparation of annual reports, financial statements, tax returns and company’s budgeting requirements
• Implement an internal control system to improve cash management and reduce shortages
• Supervise in production of month-end result, month end journals for prepayments & depreciation, balance sheet reconciliations (control accounts) and assisting for the production of statutory accounts
• Define potential weak areas and guided business leaders through cash flow analysis and cost control
• Conduct multiple business planning and financial modelling exercises, as required
• Streamlined all accounts onto new Sage Systems inline with wider Group.
• Helped Managing Director for key day to day business decisions and business strategies by reviewing management reports and financial information analysis on monthly, quarterly and annual basis
• Managed VAT and CIS returns on quarterly basis and monthly basis respectively, checked submission of EC sales listing & intrastate reporting.
• Spearheaded maintenance of cash book, invoicing, purchase ledger, sales ledger, nominal ledger and payroll, bank reconciliations, credit card payments, BACS and petty cash

UK / Ireland Tax and VAT, M&A
• Alongside the wider finance duties listed above this position will also become the companies internal advisor for Corporation Tax and VAT for the UK & Ireland Businesses.
• Preparing corporation tax returns for all of the UK Companies including Permanent Establishments
• Collating VAT information from Group Companies and processing VAT return for Group.
• Assisting other subsidiaries with Group related queries
• Dealing with Auditors, tax advisors, corporate finance
• Liaising with HM Revenue & Customs and the audit team where necessary
• Assisting the administration of the Group Tax Department (including assisting the maintenance of various controls and registers)
• Ad hoc duties as and when required including the audit and management of taxations issues across all group companies.
• Assist CFO with M&A / DD / Integration into the UK for new acquisitions and prospective targets.

The ideal candidate for this position will be formally qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) and ideally have at least 3-5 years PQE to include industry experience ideally gained in a similar position taking ownership of Financial / Management / Commercial Accounting either within a SME or divisional business.
Experience operating in a supervisory / leadership capacity leading a small finance team is ideal but note essential as this skills can be developed over time.

Those that have been working within practice, gaining experience across Account Prep, Audit, Tax and VAT seeking a first move into industry will be considered for this position
With this position becoming the internal advisor for the UK & Ireland business around Corporation Tax and VAT supporting the International group experience within this area is also key.
