My client is a leading specialist supplier of products and services into both the nursery education and public library sector.

Situated centrally within Birmingham but offering the flexibility to work from home also.

Due to continued expansion, FRS have been engaged to assist with the recruitment of a results-driven and confident Financial Controller / Company Secretary to manage and improve the organization”s financial performance and guide their accounting operations.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the duties for the Financial Controller will include managing accounting records, managing the accounts team, managing the cash and investments, evaluating and managing risk, ensuring compliance with regulations, publishing financial statements, overseeing accounting operations, analysing financial data, monitoring expenditure, budget and cash flow forecasting, coordinating auditing processes, and ensuring accuracy of financial information.

Your strategic planning and exceptional numerical proficiency as a financial controller will aid in maintaining positive revenue and financial growth, formulating sound financial strategies, implementing proper internal controls, achieving organizational targets, and developing financial plans that support organizational strategy.

The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving skills, a flair for numbers, be highly organized, and have strong leadership skills.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Financial Controller will work with colleagues to streamline our accounting functions and operations, provide financial analysis and reports, train staff on business finance issues, and drive income generation.


• Preparing financial reports
• Managing group cash flow
• Managing and developing the accounts team
• Analysing financial data
• Monitoring internal controls
• Overseeing and preparing income statements
• Participating in budgeting processes
• Managing financial transactions – including payroll and company pensions
• Streamlining accounting functions and operations
• Developing plans for financial growth
• Evaluating and managing risk – including compliance with GDPR
• Coordinating audit processes
• Administrative Company Secretary duties


Applicants must have relevant experience gained in a similar position, with strong finance management and leadership qualities as this position operates as No 1 in finance for the business.

A degree and or formal qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) is preferred, but not essential if practical experience in a similar position can be demonstrated.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is the confidence to business partner with the MD and stakeholders across the business.

In return, a basic salary of up to £60,000 coupled with Private Medical Insurance after 6 months service, Group Personal Pension Plan (contributory), Holidays: 25 days, rising with length of service, plus bank holidays.
