Our client is a well respected business operating within the Food Manufacturing Industry with
2 sites based with the East Midlands and further expansion laying ahead in the very near future.

As part of the companies continued expansion, FRS have been enlisted to assist with the recruitment of a Financial Controller or Head of Finance to join the business.

Operating as the No 1 in Finance onsite this position will work closely with both Onsite Managing Director and Group FD of Parent Company.

Reporting to the managing director, you will have a commercial background and be seeking a role where you can make a significant impact on the business.

In addition to the standard finance and reporting requirements, candidates will also be necessary to support the MD and wider business with commercial decision making in areas such as capex appraisal, product margin analysis, purchasing initiatives, staffing and commercial contracts.

The client is keen to hear from candidates who have a commercial approach to their work, seeing the bigger picture in what they do. It is likely that you are already working in a management accounting or financial analyst role and are looking for a challenge.

Tasks & Duties:
• Manage the Finance & Admin Dept – train, evaluate, motivate, delegate and monitor their activities to ensure efficient running
• Lead the maintaining financial security by monitoring revenue and expenses and establishing internal controls including conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities
• Produce, manage and formulate budgets, forecasts, annual reports, operating and long range business plans
• Establish and make recommendations to areas of potential financial operational improvement
• Bi – weekly labour reporting by department – production focussed
• Joint project with procurement – Raw material pricing trend – possibly add to MA pack
• Develop reporting of sales reports by product & customer
• MA by site & consolidated with supporting schedules, including FA reconciliation
• Summary financial position for the board including variance analysis against prior year and forecast
• Cashflow statement & 1 month forecast
• Consolidate 4 weekly staff hours reports and generate payroll report for external bureau
• Liaise with payroll bureau to ensure all information is provided to agreed procedures
• Verify the processing of new employees onto the nest pension scheme and ensure legal compliance
• Verify payroll data, run excel analysis of bureau report to validate before passing for payment
• HMRC reporting – Alcohol duty claim and quarterly vat returns
• Prepare statutory accounts for the year-end audit
• Full balance sheet reconciliations with schedules for all control accounts and banks
• Fixed asset register verification
• Liaise with external auditor to review any queries
• Process all year end journals to ensure final audit pack reconciles back to internal MA

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will be working towards qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) if not already qualified and ideally have at least 3-5 years experience gained with ownership working across Financial, Management and Commercial Accounting

Ideal Candidate
– Previous Leadership / Team management experience
– Manufacturing with understanding of costing (food manufacturing a major advantage)
– Experience of Sage (ERP Migration experience a major advantage)
– First class analysis skills
– Excellent communication and business partnering skills with ability to tailor approach to audience.
